Chien-wei Yu is an illustrator from Taiwan who completed her BA in literature and then MFA in illustration at Edinburgh College of Art.
As an avid reader, wanderer and observer, she finds inspiration in literature and her everyday life.
She enjoys creating peaceful and atmospheric images and is particularly keen on capturing lights and shadows with watercolour and soft pastels. She has an inexplicable fascination with lonely and nostalgic scenes in which time seems frozen but the air remains flowing.
Artists she admires include Vilhelm Hammershøi, Edward Hopper, and Andrew Wyeth.
But most of the time she just likes to refer to herself as a person who draws, nothing more, nothing less.
